We have seen too much defeatism, too much pessimism, too much of a negative approach. The answer is simple: if you want something very badly, you can achieve it. It may take patience, very hard work, a real struggle, and a long time; but it can be done . . . faith is a prerequisite of any undertaking. . . .

As a weight loss coach, it deeply saddens me when I see people giving up on their weight loss dreams. Many people think that if a dream is meant to be it will be accomplished effortlessly. This isn’t true. If you talk to people who have gone after their weight loss dreams, they will tell you they went through times of struggle, self-doubt, and plenty of hard work to get there. This process is true for weight loss or any other dream or goal.
Giving birth to a dream is like giving birth to a child. There is a period of gestation where things are slowly incubating and growing, then they come through the birth canal where things can get hard or painful, until finally you give birth to the dream. In the end, it’s all worth it. Don’t give up a dream because you’re struggling, as it’s part of the growth process. Did you give up your child when the contractions became painful? I’m sure now that you have him/her you look back and realize the pain and struggle was worth it. It’s the same for any great dream.
Your dreams were given to you for a reason. Dreams are the seeds of greatness inside of you. They are there to push you onward so that you reach your full potential in life. Without a dream to pursue, your life lacks meaning, passion, and purpose. It’s the difference between living a great life and a life spent going through the motions.
If losing weight is your dream, you have everything inside of you to fulfill that dream. You simply have to grow into your dream. By that I mean, you need to develop the skills and habits that will allow you to achieve it. And that’s what the journey is about – growing into your potential. If you let your dream die, a part of you (a beautiful part) dies too. There’s a saying, “Most people die with their music still inside of them.” Your dream is your music; so gather your instrument and begin to practice; and then practice some more. Before you know it, you and your body will have become a beautiful melody.
