Gratitude is the sunshine of an open heart.
Permanent weight loss is the work of opening our hearts to all that is good in us and the world around us. It means living a life of gratitude. Gratitude puts us in the flow of life. Nothing shifts our energy as quickly as gratitude. Love is the highest vibration there is. When we’re grateful, we are letting love flow through us and toward us. We are in a heightened state of receptivity.
Overeaters tend to be negatively focused. They often focus on what is missing or what is wrong with their life. Negativity leads to feelings of overwhelm, despair, failure, and powerlessness. These feelings lead right to the refrigerator! Negative thinking is a bad habit and can be shifted with a little practice. The use of affirmations and gratitude can quickly shift negative thoughts into powerfully creative ones. When we feel better we eat better!
Do you regularly count your blessings?
Do you focus on what is working well in your life? Or do you choose to focus on your flaws and what’s lacking in your life? Do you choose to focus on what is good in others? Or are you a fault finder, always looking for and magnifying other people’s flaws?
The most powerful prayer in the world is a simple thank-you. When we’re grateful, we are radiating love and good will towards the whole world. I call this spreading a little sunshine.
A simple, daily gratitude practice can make a big difference in our outlook on life. Each day, upon awakening, say thank-you for the blessings in your life and the fact that you have been given another day to enjoy life. In the evening, list at least 3 things you’re grateful for that day. The more we practice gratitude for the things we currently have in our lives, the more space we create for even more blessings to enter.
Be sure to practice gratitude for even your so called problems and challenges. These are our opportunities for growth. They are calling us to stretch beyond our current boundaries and become more of who we really are. Without them, our lives would become stagnant and have no forward movement.
Remember to give thanks for your body and all it does to serve you. Even our weight and/or eating issues are to be grateful for, because these are actually attempts to take care of our needs. If we didn’t have these coping tools, how might we have survived difficult circumstances in the past?
Bless them to release them. When we have practiced learning new ways of taking care of ourselves, we will no longer need them. Until then, thank them for serving you.

Feast for the Eyes – Gratitude Leaves – Art by Catherine L. Taylor
- As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
—John F. Kennedy
- Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.
—Henry Van Dyke
- Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.
- At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
*****************************************************************Dear Readers:I am so thankful for you. Serving you gives my life purpose and keeps my flame shining brightly. And if I ignite a spark in at least a few people, well then, I have done my job.
In deep gratitude,
I choose to notice the beauty and goodness in myself and others.
I choose to spread the sunshine and appreciate all that is good in my world.
I am grateful for having the opportunity to grow beyond where I’m at now.
I am grateful for being given another day to make better choices.
I appreciate my body for the miracle it is. It is with me through thick and thin.
I forgive and release myself for the abuse and negativity I direct towards my body.
I bless my body to heal and release the weight.

Is emotional eating keeping you from losing weight and living the life you want? Are you ready to get off the diet rollercoaster and master your weight and your life?
If so, you may be a candidate for coaching. Coaching can make the difference between success and failure.
I have found that people who struggle with food and emotional eating are released from that prison once they learn the skills of mindful awareness and mindful eating, emotional self-nurturing, developing a spiritual or meditation practice, and learning to set appropriate limits and goals.
This turns off the urge to overeat and engage in other compulsive behaviors. When you feel better, you eat better! I have walked this path myself, and it has led me to peace and freedom.
The goal of my coaching is to create a lighter, balanced, healthier, nourishing and joy-filled life. You will begin to see results in all areas of your life because How You do Food is How You do Life!®
I coach and mentor people in the areas of: permanent weight loss, food addiction, compulsive, emotional overeating, binge eating recovery, creative self expression, spiritual direction, mindfulness, meditation, self care and stress management, self esteem and body image issues.
Note: My work is spiritually focused, not religious, and fits with any belief system you may have, even agnostic. My work assumes that you have all the wisdom and answers you need inside of you.
What you call this place — God, intuition, Higher Power, inner wisdom, or true self — is up to you. I am simply a guide bringing you back to the truths that are already inside of you.
