You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.
Many of us have played the waiting game. We’ve waited for that magical time to arrive when we would be filled with the confidence to finally go after our dreams and goals. Meanwhile our lives have marched onward with our hopes and dreams still lying dormant within us.
In order for something to change, we must change. We must stop waiting to feel confident and move into action. We don’t need to feel ready. Confidence is gained in the doing and experiencing, it’s not something that will magically appear in us one day.
All success is built on a series of smaller wins or successes. As we take small reasonable risks and set realistic and attainable goals, we experiencing small wins, and through these wins our confidence, strength and courage grows. We gain the momentum to keep moving forward and take even bigger risks, eventually arriving at our larger goal.
Each time we step out of our comfort zone, we stretch our wings and grow. Change and growth are uncomfortable, for we are moving out of the known and into the unknown. It means we must embrace an uncertain outcome, as there are no guarantees in life. We are all filled with untapped potential; it’s only by taking risks and meeting challenges that we can realize this potential and come to know who we are and what we are made of. We can run from challenges or we can embrace them, with the knowing that we truly cannot fail, because the only true failure in life is to not try.
Am I waiting to feel confident and ready? Or am I stepping out of my comfort zone and taking risks? What current challenges in my life are calling me to grow? Am I ready and willing to embrace the challenge of permanent weight loss?
Today, I move forward by taking action.
I trust I will gain confidence as I rise to meet my challenges.

I set my mind on what I want to do and create a plan to do it.
The most important thing I can do is to begin. Even if it is again…and again…and again.
