This is an excerpt from Catherine L. Taylor's new ebook Visualization For Weight Loss, Using the Power Of Your Mind To Shape Your Body And Your Reality

The greatest ally you have in your weight loss effort is the power of your own mind. To ignite the law of attraction you have to use the power of your imagination. If you can imagine it, you can be it.

Creative visualization is a technique to harness the power of your mind to create something that you desire. You use creative visualization every day though you are probably unaware of it. When you day dream, or conjure up pictures of food, people, or anything else you desire, you are using creative visualization.

Visualization is a powerful tool for weight loss. It harnesses the power of the mind/body connection. Before you lose weight, or accomplish any major goal you must be able to see yourself doing it in your mind’s eye.

Visualization is most effective when it fully engages all five senses. When you are visualizing, try to put yourself in the scene as fully as possible. Try to taste, smell, feel, look, and hear the scene you are in. This will make it as real as possible.

Make sure you get yourself relaxed and comfortable before doing your visualizations. Get in a comfortable chair and take several deep breaths before starting. Make sure your phone is turned off and you’re in a place where you won’t be disturbed.

Here are some powerful visualization techniques.

Your Ideal Weight

Before you can achieve your ideal weight you must have a clear vision of what it looks like. The more detailed this vision, the easier it will be to achieve this vision.

When envisioning your ideal weight make sure it reflects reality. This new body of yours shouldn’t be tall and willowy, if you happen to be a short, stocky person. This vision has to be true to your type.

Your ideal weight is the weight that is optimal for the health of your particular body and frame. It isn’t something that should be dictated by the current obsession with thinness.

You will also need to make allowances for age, childbirth, etc. I once knew a woman who always kept a picture of herself in a bikini when she was in her twenties. This woman was now in her 60’s. Now, I’m not implying that a 60 year old woman can’t look good in a bikini; just that there was no way she was ever going to go back to that particular image.

By obsessing on and comparing herself to that particular image, she never felt she looked good enough at her current age, which left her continually dissatisfied with the present progress she was making. Make sure your vision is realistic and achievable!

If you can, find a picture of yourself at a normal weight and put it up where you can look at it several times a day. Every time you look at the picture say to yourself, “My ideal weight is on the way!”

If you have been overweight for a long time, or you’ve been overweight your entire life, you may have a hard time envisioning your ideal weight. You might want to look at pictures in magazines or go to a mall and look at people who are of a normal weight and have a similar build and bone structure as you do. Mentally try on their bodies. When you find one that feels right, use this image. You will use this image on a daily basis in your visualizations.
