Weight Loss Nirvana: Life Is Hard, Suffering Is Optional
Life is hard, suffering is optional.
Nirvana is here.
Life is hard. It is full of challenges and suprises. For many, permanent weight loss
is one of life's biggest challenges. Being overweight and eating
emotionally can leave us feeling overwhelmed and out of control.
There is much in life we don't have control over. There are acts of genetics, governments, nature, etc. The
one thing we do have control over is how we react to what life throws
our way.
We can allow life to defeat us or make us stronger. Like the willow
tree, we
need to learn to bend to the circumstances in our lives, instead of
trying to
shape circumstances to fit to our desires.
In this way we move with the flow of life, rather than trying to
swim
upstream.
How we interpret an event determines our response to it. Resistance
to what
is happening in our lives causes suffering. When we want something - a
person,
event, circumstance, or thing to be different than what it truly is, we
suffer.
Many of us have experienced trauma and difficulties. It is completely natural
after
something difficult happens to experience shock, disbelief, then anger,
sadness
and grief. We feel disoriented and our view of life and belief
systems
are shaken and challenged.
Hopefully after a time, we move into a state of acceptance.
Acceptance
is dealing with life on life's terms. Accepting what is in our life,
not how
we want it to be.
Acceptance means being willing to let go of the desired outcome and
accept
life for the imperfect, uncertain package that it is. It means finding
happiness and calm amidst the chaos and imperfection of life. It also
means
choosing to be happy while currently being overweight and out of shape.
With acceptance comes a trust and relaxation that life is unfolding
as it
should be. This trust allows us to glean the jewels of wisdom from the
wreckage of life. This gives us the strength to move forward and
to trust
that whatever cards life deals us, we will have the strength to
accept and
grow from it.
Peace and happiness isn’t something that happens when all our
problems are
solved. It is right here, right now - waiting for us to find it. All
that is
required is for us to open our awareness to it. We find it when
we
cease trying to make life something that it isn't.
Happiness comes when we decide that life is good enough as it is,
not how
we would like it to be. Of course, this doesn't mean
that there isn't room for improvement. It means that we aren't
dependent on any external situations or conditions for our happiness.
True happiness is found within.
Nirvana is a peaceful and joyful life. It is a life with
in our
reach.
Nirvana is right here, right now.
All it takes is to stop wanting life to be different and open to
what is.
Awaken to it and it is yours.
Affirmations:
Today
I will move with the flow of life. I no longer expect life to conform
to my expectations. I open to what is. I choose to see my life as it is
right
now, not how I want it to be. In doing this, I release my suffering.
