Weight Loss Wisdom: Self Forgiveness, Cleaning The Slate

You must begin to fill yourself with the presence of your own heart.

Most have us have spent our lives wishing we were something other than who we are. Early in life we decided that who we were was not good enough.  We condemned ourselves for simply being human: needy, fragile, and imperfect.

In our childhoods we decided this wasn’t good enough because someone we were dependent on wasn’t able to love us the way we needed to be loved. At the time, we didn’t have the maturity to understand that this was actually their deficiency, not ours, and we subsequently condemned ourselves as inferior or damaged goods. That was the moment that we banished ourselves out of our own hearts.

Self-forgiveness means we welcome ourselves back into our own circle of compassion. We welcome ourselves home, into the warmth of our own hearts. When we can fully embrace ourselves, we can embrace the entire world.

Self-forgiveness frees up vast amounts of psychic energy. It allows our life energy to flow outward again. When we condemn ourselves, our energy is stuck. There is no available energy for movement and growth in our lives. New beginnings start with self-forgiveness. It cleans the slate and opens the door for the new to appear.

The greatest gift we can give ourselves is our own attention. When we forgive ourselves, we begin to attend to ourselves. Most of us are starving for our own attention. We begin to see that what we have expected and demanded from others is really what we have needed to give to ourselves. We have desperately wanted other people’s love and attention because we haven’t been able to give it to ourselves.

Self-forgiveness allows us to fill ourselves with our own presence. This allows us to become full. The only way to fill our inner emptiness is to fill it with the love of our own hearts. This fullness spills outward and touches everyone we meet. When we have become truly present to ourselves, we can then be fully present to others.

Meditation:

The truth is you have always been perfect. How can you know this for sure? The proof is that you exist. You are who you are. You are a unique expression of Spirit. God made you this way. To not embrace your self is an insult to God. When you begin to honor your divine gifts, you honor the Spirit who created you. Your life becomes a living prayer, a tribute to God.

Affirmations:
