Compassion is Always in Fashion - Newsletter Issue #30

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
We need to soften our standards and expectations a bit, leaving room for being human and fallible, especially when we are trying to learn new ways of living.
Compassion, patience and loving-kindness practice can work wonders for learning to soften our hearts towards ourselves and others. We can start each day by looking in the mirror and telling ourselves, “May you be well. May you be kind. May you be free of pain and self-criticism. May you be free of overeating today.”
Compassion for ourselves means that we fully accept our humanness – each of us is a mixed bag of strengths and weaknesses, light and dark. As we let go of our self-judgments and self-criticism, we are free to fully embrace ourselves, and welcome ourselves back into the circle of our own hearts.

Attention all Gmail users!
There have been changes to Gmail … they have a new feature that automatically filters your email into Primary, Social and Promotions.
The problem with this is that Gmail will classify my ezine as Promotions and you may never receive a message from me in your primary inbox again…
So, to continue receiving my newsletter, here’s the fix. It’s simple and takes only a few seconds…
1. In Gmail, click on the Promotions tab.
2. Click and drag an email from Catherine L. Taylor over to the Primary tab.
3. You will be asked if you want to “Do this for all future messages.” Click “Yes.”
I am a mixed bag of strengths and weaknesses, light and dark. By embracing them all, I become whole.
I am fallible, human and worthy of love.
I am doing the best I can.
I deserve my love, caring, attention and concern.
I make room for myself in my own heart.
I practice kindness towards myself and others.
I look at myself through loving eyes.

I have found that people who struggle with food and emotional eating are released from that prison once they learn the skills of mindful awareness and mindful eating, emotional self-nurturing, developing a spiritual or meditation practice, and learning to set appropriate limits and goals.
This turns off the urge to overeat and engage in other compulsive behaviors. When you feel better, you eat better! I have walked this path myself, and it has led me to peace and freedom.

Note: My work is spiritually focused, not religious, and fits with any belief system you may have, even agnostic. My work assumes that you have all the wisdom and answers you need inside of you.
What you call this place -- God, intuition, Higher Power, inner wisdom, or true self -- is up to you. I am simply a guide bringing you back to the truths that are already inside of you.
